A BRIEF BIO
I landed my first gig in advertising nearly twenty years ago. It was an ideal time to be starting out because digital was just on the cusp of magically changing everything. So while I’ve experienced the joys of creating print, outdoor, radio and broadcast advertising, I am not a “good ‘ol days” kind of ad girl. I love how digital, social and content have allowed us to communicate and deliver interesting experiences rather than one-way traditional campaigns.
My background is in copywriting, but my understanding of design and love of both disciplines has helped me be a creative leader throughout my career. By the time I became a senior writer, I was already starting to provide creative direction on selected projects. Today I love guiding writers, art directors and developers to own their awesomeness, refine their ideas, and make work that both clients and their customers adore. I’m not exaggerating by using the word love. The best thing I get to do is helping other people shine. Go team!
Something I also enjoy is questioning assumptions and seemingly sacred best practices, which are fine until they become ubiquitous and boring. I’m not into shock value, but I’m all for a carefully considered surprise. (P.S. if you’ve never heard Genevieve Bell talk about delight, do so as soon as you’re done here. I mean it.) I’ve found that looking at things in a different way is a timeless approach to developing good strategy, and getting to discuss what ifs with clients, regardless of the outcome, would also be on my career highlight reel.
Outside of Workville, I like international travel, reading fiction, writing poetry, making playlists, horseback riding, discovering new art and artists, dreaming about fashion and being Aunt Jeanne.
